In this short article, I will guide you about Star Ferry Pier locations, getting there, and which pier number to choose so you can plan your trip well in advance.

Where to Ride the Star Ferry?

You can either ride the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, or Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier. There are two routes: Tsim Sha Tsui ⇄ Central and Tsim Sha Tsui ⇄ Wan Chai. You can’t directly go by ferry from Central to Wan Chai or vice versa.

You can the ticket on site or in advance. Keep in mind you can either purchase a ticket for regular crossing or Harbour Tour. Check this article for detailed schedules, fares, and promotions .

Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier

Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) Star Ferry Pier is located in Kowloon and is surrounded by famous Hong Kong attractions and landmarks such as Harbour City Shopping Mall, Clock Tower, and Avenue of Stars.

From TST Star Ferry Pier, you can ride the ferry to either Central or Wan Chai pier and vice versa. Unlike Central, TST pier only has two ferry platforms and they’re not numbered. The northern platform heads to Central, while the southern one heads to Wan Chai. Be sure to check the sign once inside the pier. TST pier is very easy to get to by MTR, bus, or Taxi. Keep reading for the detail.

MTR

Ride MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui or East Tsim Sha Tsui Station. Take Exit L6 and walk along Salisbury Road. You’ll see Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Clock Tower

KMB Bus

There are two bus stations in the pier: KMB and Citybus terminus. KMB’s bus stop is right in front of the pier, while Citybus’ stop is north of KMB’s stop.

If you’re staying in Kowloon, taking the KMB bus is more convenient as it has more routes to Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier than Citybus. KMB Bus No. 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, etc all have stops in TST Star Ferry Pier. You can search more routes and the latest one on KMB website.

If you’re departing from the Airport or Tung Chung to Tsim Sha , Citybus N21 can take you directly to TST pier as well.

Central Star Ferry Pier (No. 7)

If you’re planning to take the Star Ferry from Central, you can go to Central Ferry Piers / Waterfront, which is north of the International Finance Centre building and Hong Kong MTR station.

Make sure to choose pier number 7 to ride the Star Ferry as there are 10 piers in Central Waterfront. From Central, you can only ride the ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui pier.

MTR

Ride MTR to Central or Hong Kong station. Take Exit A2 and walk along the elevated pedestrian bridge until you reach Star Ferry Pier entrance.

Bus

If you live around Central, Bus No. 2 is one of the options you could take as it passes through major roads.

If you’re planning to ride the Star Ferry after finishing your trip at The Peak, you can take bus No. 15. The bus will take you directly from The Peak to Central Ferry Piers, so you will not descend by the Peak Tram.
There are other bus routes to the pier that you can find on the Citybus website.

Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier

Wan Chai’s pier is the smallest of all three and has only one pier at the moment, so it is quite straightforward to ride the ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui.

If you’re from Wan Chai Station, take Exit A1 and walk along the pedestrian bridge toward Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Then, descend and head west until you reach the pier.
